How can you help?
Everyone can play a part in helping to
enhance the environment and to protect endangered species.
We invite you to be part of our success by helping out in the
following ways:
Make a donation
Become a volunteer
Adopt a track
Make a donation to our Kokako Nest Egg
We are seeking cash donations to build our "Kokako Nest Egg", an investment fund dedicated to ensuring ongoing protection of kokako at Kaharoa.
Our aim is to accumulate $150,000 and we need your help to achieve our goal. The Kokako Nest Egg currently stands at over $45,000 – with sponsorship support from PF Olsen Ltd.
The interest yielded by the Kokako Nest Egg will cover our pest control costs in the future. Every dollar you give us today will go on working to protect kokako for years to come.
The Kaharoa Kokako Trust is a registered charity so all donations made in New Zealand qualify for tax rebates.
You can make a donation by the following means:
- Make an annual contribution by completing an automatic payment form and returning it to us.
- Send a cheque to Kaharoa Kokako Trust, PO Box 78, Ngongotaha, 3041.
- Give on-line via the Givealittle website:
Help out at our volunteer work days
The Trust holds occasional work days to conduct track
maintenance or to fill bait stations with poison. The poisoning
operations only take place in the nesting season.
These work days give volunteers an opportunity to enjoy the bush
while completing a useful task. Volunteers are notified in
advance of work days, which usually take place on a Saturday
morning.
Contact Graeme Young to put your name
on the volunteer contact list.

Adopt a track
The Adopt-a-track scheme is designed for volunteers who want to
conduct track maintenance in their own time. You can choose a
track that suits your fitness level and keep it maintained at
your convenience throughout the year.
